In 2002, Coach Snider devoted himself to creating a program that taught basketball skills to school aged athletes in the Chicagoland area. At the time, it seemed that to some professional players shooting was a lot art. It was important for him to start implementing shooting fundamentals with athletes at a young age. Building NBU with only three athletes, two of which were his own children, Snider would travel to various locations, taking advantage of any available gym to teach the fundamental skills of the game. Today, you can find Coach Snider running skill training clinics in 90-minute sessions, where he educates athletes [kindergarten aged and older] on basketball essentials.
Coach Snider has had the privilege of teaching basketball to hundreds of athletes throughout the city and suburbs. Over 90% of the NBU clinic participants, including freshman and sophomore athletes, have gone on to make the varsity team at their respective high schools. Snider has prepared a number of athletes for basketball scholarships and division 1 competition, including his children; Coach Taylor [Pepperdine University 2010] and Gabriel [UIC 2016].
Coach Snider has been coaching and mentoring youth for over 20 years and has coached teams to championships on all levels. This includes two Illinois State Championships, one Runner-up Illinois State Championship, one varsity City Championship, two Sophomore City Championships, four Freshman City Championships, and three AAU National Championships. His philosophy and focus continues to be FUNDAMENTALS, ONE SKILL AT A TIME!
Coach Snider is a 1982 graduate of Upper Iowa University and has been married over 35 years.
